The course goal is to develop the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information regarding law abiding citizens right to self defense. This is the course required for Michigan’s CCW license. Total of eight hours. Cost will be $140.00.
Topics will include:
- Introduction to defensive shooting
- Safe gun handling
- Basic defensive handgun skills
- Firearms and the law
- Use of deadly force
- Selecting the right firearm and ammunition
- Strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation
- Sport shooting activities and training opportunities
Provided materials:
- NRA Personal Protection Handbook
- Gun Safety Rules brochure
- Certificate of Completion (upon meeting all course requirements)
You will need:
- A handgun (any model other than a single action revolver)
- At least 50 rounds of ammunition for that particular gun
- Eye and ear protection
- If you do not have your own gun, one can be rented for $25.00 (includes ammunition).
